Sones de México
Sones de Mexico has become the musical symbol of Mexican expression in Chicago, and possibly the U.S. Its name comes from the word "son" which is the true Mexican "mestizo" music style, and evolved into as many variations as there are towns in povincial Mexico.

Sones enjoys the artistic direction of Mr Víctor Pichardo, former member of "Grupo Zazhil" in Mexico, and an avid researcher and investigator of authentic Mexican music. His expertise, credentials and a gifted talent for almost every imaginable musical instrument, have earned him the prestigious Fellowship award granted by the Illinois Arts Council along with many other recognitions and awards.

Juan Díes is the Ensemble's executive director, and also works at one of Chicago's most treasured musical jewels The Old Town School of Folk Music.

Sones has played the Company's entire repertoire since 1999, and has enriched its performances, providing the unique excitement of live musical accompaniment.
